@ambrowerhttps://github.com/ambrower could you please download this app https://apps.apple.com/us/app/discovery-dns-sd-browser/id1381004916?mt=12 and, with qz opened and connected to your bike, send a screenshot about the DIRCON section on the app (discovery dns sd browser)? Thanks

OK, I made a rookie mistake: I realized mac-qz was on pause and once I unpaused, then zwift registered the readings.
Two issues that now remain:
First is that while mac-qz says it reads my HR monitor via BT, no HR readings show up in qz or zwift. My workaround is to have zwift read my HR monitor directly. Are there any issues or conflicts if I do that?
Second, mac-qz crashes relatively frequently just after it loads. I repeat and it generally takes 2-3 tries before qz loads. Here’s what I notice, which I hope is helpful in sorting this out: when it crashes, it does so before my mac asks me to allow qz BT access. Those times when BT access is requested first, then qz loads.
As always, thanks for your help.

@ambrowerhttps://github.com/ambrower mmm no it should find it directly using wahoo direct connect. be sure that this setting is enabled in the experimental settings (should be by default)
yes i know about the trusted developer, the process of submitting an application to apple store for max could be tricky so i will leave this way for now
you can open a new discussion here in github if you have any issues, this is the right place

I’ll generate a log and crash report later today. But to answer your question about my HR monitor, yes it appears in the HR belt name in qz and I’ve selected it.

@ambrower could you try this https://github.com/cagnulein/qdomyos-zwift/releases/download/2.10.97/qdomyos-zwift.dmg to check if the crash on the startup is solved in the meantime?

@cagnulein Here's the crash log and the qz log: crash log 2022-06-04 13 34 16.pdf qz debug log 2022 jun 4 13 39 45.pdf
I'll download and try the new version of qz later this morning. thanks again for helping sort out the two remaining issues.
Crashing was better with this latest version, but it still crashed. But I did notice something else:
It seemed to crash more consistently when opened less than 30 seconds after closing. And by closing, I mean closing the program and waiting until the app’s icon showed that it was closed out on my doc. If I reopened within 30 seconds after that, then it would crash, so I wonder if there’s more going on behind the scenes even after the program looked closed from what I could see on my desktop.

Qz doesn't have any service or something similar, so I think it's just random. I will check again your logs tomorrow finding a root cause. Anyway when it doesn't crash on the startup then it's solid?
Thanks for looking at the logs and seeing what you can tell me. Yes, when it connects (doesn’t crash), all is great.
And it’s great to have both programs running on the same machine. I’ve alternated some rides where I hide qz behind zwift and I can pretend that my echelon is a smart bike that connects directly to zwift.

Another question for you, and still trying to make progress with qz on the android 9 tablet.
Using my macbook air, I bought and downloaded qz for android using Bluestack, and then extracted the APK and loaded that onto the tablet. That’s version 2.8.142. Is there a later version for android? One website (https://baixarapk.gratis/en/app/1543684531/qz-qdomyos-zwift) said that the latest version is 2.9, but I don’t know that I trust it because no one else is listing v2.9.
Thanks as always.

@ambrower for the HR issue remember to send me a debug log with the issue. Thanks
@ambrower the crash issue seems this one https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/694146?login=true and unfortunately is still pending. Let's see how it will evolve
Thanks for sending me to this thread. Disappointing that this is a known issue for Apple and not yet fixed. But am I right to remain hopeful that, since this is a problem Apple created when connecting with BT, that there’s some hope a fix will address the BT connection problem with the Android 9 tablet?

@cagnulein I've attached the log from this evening where mac-qz is working just fine except that it's not reading my HR monitor. I can't even get qz to find it when I "refresh devises" in settings. Thanks for your help.

sorry which was the issue with your android tablet? If it's a bridge issue, no, it's an hardware issue of your tablet. The only way is to use the Wahoo Dircon

which is the name of the HR? I can't see in the list so try to connet from the Mac bluetooth settings first and then open QZ. Let me know
@cagnulein I've attached another debug log. But my HR monitor is not being seen by my Mac when I try to connect directly. I've now deleted the plist and also ran the pkill bluetoothd command using terminal. No difference. Any suggestions? debug-Tue_Jun_7_17_43_23_2022.log
@cagnulein This time I waited a really long time (like 5 min) with mac-qz open to see if it would eventually find my HR monitor. It did. I've attached that log. I did not do this on the bike, however, so the log might not see anything else
These are the devices that QZ sees Aaron’s iPhone PowerCal Duo
Don't you see the HR device at all even in the Mac bluetooth settings?
@cagnulein I've attached two logs from this morning, in neither did Mac-qz find my HR monitor (PowerCal Duo). Zwift will find it and I can use it outside of qz, but I don't want to do that because my qz file won't contain heart rate.
You'll see that in both logs, qz is now cutting out and asking for a patreon membership. Is that what you're doing with Mac-qz? Or is that just for the latest version until you post it on the apple store? debug-Wed_Jun_8_07_28_54_2022.log debug-Wed_Jun_8_07_40_02_2022.log

since for Mac Intel the work for porting it to the apple store doesn't worth, i put it as a trial using the patreon/buy me a coffee membership as an unlocker. It has been done in this way since the very first version on Mac Intel. I hope you will understand it :(
Ok on patreon. I just wasn’t aware that’s what you were doing. Is that permanent, or just for now?
No, I don’t see my HR monitor directly from the mac, though it will show up after zwift finds it. Any suggestions?

For Mac Intel, as I said, it will be permanent. Mac Intel are also dropped from Apple since this year, so I don't think a massive porting work will worth. It's easier to share the version in this way. There is a lot of work in order to keep QZ alive and in some way I have to try eat at the end of the month :)
No, I don’t see my HR monitor directly from the mac, though it will show up after zwift finds it. Any suggestions?
This is strange: it's strange also because QZ found it yesterday. It seems that something is eating the advertisment package. Maybe zwift is running in background? Do you see the HR on your iphone/android while you can't on Mac (at the same time I mean)?
Yeah, I get it that qz has real value.
No, the HR monitor isn’t connected to anything else. During this morning’s sessions, both my phone and the android tablet were off, and zwift wasn’t running until after I started qz. Yesterday, I deleted the Bluetooth plist and also ran the terminal command that kills Bluetooth (per suggestions on the internet for Bluetooth connection problems for Macs running OS Monterey).

ok but did you try with the phone to double check with nrfconnect if the HR is available? It sounds to me like an underlayer issue...QZ is relying on the Mac framework. If the Mac can't see it, neither QZ can :(
Unfortunately you have to do a litle of troubleshooting because it's very hard to understand something like this wihtout having the issue here :(
I’ll try some variations. Last time I connected my bike to qz and zwift via my iphone, all worked perfectly, including reading the HR monitor.

@cagnulein I believe you mentioned this to me, but is there a beta version of the android qz app and where can I get that? I believe you said the beta version is needed to make my echelon bike work with iFit. Thanks.

@cagnulein Now that I'm regularly running qz and peloton on the echelon bike's android tablet (model is the Costco ex4s+), there is one thing not working. All else though, is working great, including now that I've fine tuned the "conversion gain" setting. What's not working, though is that qz isn't sending HR information to peloton. My tablet runs Android 9.
Great!
I’ve tried switching “HR service outside of FTMS” both on and off (currently its off) and it doesn’t seem to make a difference.
Ok it must be OFF for this purpose.
I can get peloton to read my HR monitor directly (when I keep qz from reading it first), but I thought qz was supposed to send HR to the peloton app.
Yes QZ can do this actually. I guess it's just a cache issue on the ipad (peloton is running on the ipad right?) If you want to double check, install nrfconnect on the ipad and with qz connected to your bike and HR, check if you see the HR characteristing from the QZ device. Let me know
I’m running qz and peloton on the same android 9 tablet (using split screen). Everything works except qz doesn’t send HR to peloton. Given that, should “HR outside of FTMS” be off? And any other suggestions?

@ambrower that's the issue! You can't stream cadence or hr from qz to the same device. You need 2 devices for this purpose. One with QZ and one with peloton
Got it. OK, in that case, then all’s working as well as it can be. Thanks.
BTW, I was able to make the “conversion gain” setting work with echelon and peloton—I posted to facebook on that. That setting really helped me fine-tune qz’s auto-resistance with peloton.

Yeah I saw it! Thanks! Probably @janabouc it's another point to add in the QZ bible :)
What specifically do I need to add? There was a lot of things discussed in this issue? Is it that you have to have 2 devices to display hr and/or cadence in Peloton? Or something about zwift?
@janabouc I was talking about
BTW, I was able to make the “conversion gain” setting work with echelon and peloton—I posted to facebook on that. That setting really helped me fine-tune qz’s auto-resistance with peloton.
There is a post on the FB group from last week about this
The main thing that could be helpful to others is a note on the “direction” of the conversion gain: setting Conversion Gain less than 1.0 makes echelon’s resistance stronger relative to peloton; setting it greater than 1.0 makes it weaker. That allows the user to fine-tune the auto-resistance conversion during the peloton instructor callouts.
Thanks for creating such a great product and all the support you provide.

absolutely! Thanks to highlighting this point!
@cagnulein I have a new configuration that I'm trying to get working, and I hope you can help with. This is again on the tablet running Android 9 on my EX4s+.
I'd like to run qz and iFit together using split screen. I tried it for the first time today and iFit couldn't find my bike, which I assume means it couldn't read qz. Qz is picking up my bike and HR just fine. I'm running the beta version of qz.
Everything is working just fine with qz and peloton on split screen. Is there a setting that I need to change to make iFit work? I remember something about turning off peloton cadence to make it work with Zwift, for example. Thanks.
ifit and qz can't work on the same device. you need 2 devices for this setup
OK, thanks for letting me know.
Why does peloton and qz work on the same device? Is there something different about how peloton reads information?

Just curious how these programs work and interact.

I've attached several debug logs from this morning. qz finds my bike right away, and Zwift sees my iPhone as the power source, controllable, HR, and cadence. But the first issue is that there are no readings at all within Zwift: no power, no HR, no cadence. The second issue is that qz doesn't report HR from my HR monitor.
This is an intermittent problem: Zwift will sometimes report readings from qz. qz will also sometimes read my HR monitor (though not at all today). I've attached several debug logs so you can see this morning's session. You'll see
Here's my set up:
One last thing: after I ended my Zwift session, to see whether everything paired within the echelon environment, I exited qz and connected to the echelon app on the built-in monitor. The bike connected just fine and all metrics were displayed, including eventually pairing with my HR monitor. It took about a min to find the HR monitor, but it did eventually pair.
Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it.
