This issue is a follow up to our meeting on 3/21/24 which included the topic of the Advanced Transportation Management System Replacement (ATMSR) project. The ATMSR Project replaces the current 30-year-old Advanced Transporation Managment System (ATMS; software platform designed to help manage and optimize transportation operations) in Districts 3, 8, 11, and 12 which currently utilizes RMIS. Currently there is no one at Caltrans that can support RMIS. I have included documentation on RMIS To PeMS history and the most recent status for your reference. Please note that the ATMSR project is an interim solution until it is replaced by the new California Advanced Transportation Management System (CATMS) project in 2026. CATMS solicitation will be released in May 2024 and attached is a fact sheet for your reference.

I can setup a meeting with the Caltrans Project Manager if you need additional information about the ATMSR Project. The PM is limited in what he can share and with whom outside of Caltrans since various contractors will be bidding on the contract.

A process called RMIS is used to bring data from TMC's (Traffic Management Centers) to PEMS - Ken is gathering more info on this project.

@kengodleskidot - let's make some time tomorrow during weekly meeting to chat about this. I just want to understand what implications may be for data interfaces and the PeMS modernization.

Timeline - D12 updating in the next 1-2 months. 3 other districts switching over a few months after that.
