Hello, I'd like to report that I've also experienced this issue as well and
have had no luck remedying it.

Does software rendering improve the situation?

For me, software just makes it worse, not only that it becomes unplayable
because of the low frame speed...

how is it running these days?

apparently this issue is still here.

It runs easily at 60fps with slowdowns to about 20fps when explosions are
present. The artifacts after explosions or respawning still exist. Sometimes
light comes through walls or the walls are near completely transparent.

Hello, just wanted to give you guys an update on the status of TS3. With no
direct fixes to this game there still have been some general improvements to
performance most notably the explosions are no longer causing issues. Also, the
spawn artifacts are no longer around, at least I didn't have any as of the last
revision 5689. However I would like to point out a couple of issues I have
found since I started playing again. First and most importantly, the mtvu hack
causes a strange bug that causes the game to run around 3~5 fps while the
emulator reports a full 60fps, as you can imagine, this makes the game
unplayable with sed hack on. Also, there is still the issue of semi transparent
walls and lighting effects in most maps. Lastly, the screen filter created by
the alternative mode of the magcharger causes the game to dip to 2fps constant,
the drop is removed once the magcharger is back into its normal mode. I realize
I am one of the few people who actually play this game, but it would be great
to have it fully up and running on pcsx2!
Sorry if the post is too long, but I figured I might as well give as much info
as possible.

In Timesplitters 1 , the Lights leak through the Walls in unbearable to play,
TS, TS2 and TS3 are all the same Game Engine thus all relevant..... I reported
this 3 years ago, yet no fixes. ..fix the TS Z-Buffer please.

GS downloads, most likely. The problem affects other games as well, most notably
the sun shining through objects. A fix is possible but no one is working on it
yet.
Software mode will fix the problem.

Well I have being waiting over 3 years to for this issue to be fixed so
obviously it will never be fix.. PCSX2 is a biased emulator.. Developers only
cares about emulating certain titles.

@ milespro,
do you not realize how understaffed pcsx2 is right now? From what I can gather
the development staff is currently working on fixing core engine problems and
finalizing OpenGL. I imagine the staff will get to this and problems like it
once the larger bugs have been fixed.
I have been waiting for a fix on this game since 0.9.6 and you don't hear me
complain...
@ rama
This thread has gotten some attention this week, I wonder why? Anyways you and
the development team keep up the good work, sometime in the last revisions
OpenGL is now working on Timesplitters Future Perfect now, which is awesome!

I've been keeping a keen eye on these particular issues but just came here to
confirm these issues too still being persistent unfortunately.
The TimeSplitter games however run very well despite these issues - as
distracting as they are :)
Many thanks.

Don't know whether this will help with this issue, but this is what I discover.
When playing Story Mode with just 1 Player, this mentioned issue will be
demonstrated instantly once the actual game play starts, but will eventually go
once the game has begun and you're moving.
When playing Story Mode with 2 Players, this issue is non-existent. The game
play starts the same as with 1 Player, but the screen is fine. Eventually the
game begins in split screen, and again no such problem. The game runs great
actually, however the issue of the "leaking lights" of course remains.
I hope this helps. Thanks!

i would just like to point out that the timesplitters games were never
completed they have coding that wasnt completed or fixed. the leaking lights
and explosions well thats exactly what the game does if you were playing it
just on the real PS2. (Maybe not as extreme as the pcsx2 but a tad less)
