1) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on the
Official PCSX2 build or an earlier version of PCSX2 playground?

It worked on the r5197 but after some time the text in all menus disappeared, I
tried to bring it back by playing around with the GSdx settings now there are
no words at all in menus, conversations,....

I solved the problem
I was looking into another problem and the solution for that problem was to
avoid using save states
I tried that here and it worked
I didn't know that but with save states the problems were stacking up
Thank You

Yes it worked for me too, but you can use save states in the same session (not
between different sessions) and the problem seem do not exist

not working for me... i never use save states in this game... but it seems that
the text disappear after flashback scenes (grey/brown bug).
Switching between Hardware and Software in GSDX didn't help me.
Using 5350 and the latest gsdx plugin

Changing the renderer can cause this problem. Try to go through the flashback
scene without changing renderers.
