Even i got the same problem. I am using ntsc version, dvd9, i backed up dvd
using
imgburn, i loaded that using the linuz and efp plugin, using linuz plugin i am
getting a message saying that second layer is not found. Is this game freeze
related
to dual layer incompatibility? I am trying if any previous version will run
past that
point. Will come back if anything works. There is no error on the console
during the
entire process. Fps stays at 60, cpu utilization falls, frame number goes on
counting
up, cant hear any sound. It happens at the end of above described movie.

got this issue resolved for me. I switched to 4:3 aspect ratio (ex: anything
like
1024 x 768 etc) in full screen and set my game's internal resolution to the
same. I
just got past the point.

Also, remember to patch your DL images with Toxic Patcher. This was discussed
on the
forums. This solves the midgame problem, before entering the temple of Pandora.

I patched my image and it still happens. I tried 4:3 as well. still hangs.

I had the same issue.
So when you reach that video, and before it hangs, press escape, go to
Misc->Patch
Finder, click on Skip MPEG, it will add a patch, click on Enable/Disable to
enable
it, return to the game, the movie will be skipped and you will regain control
of
Kratos.
You can now return and disable the patch.
I find however that the game hangs shortly thereafter on a engine rendered
cutscene
where the girl is hanging from a rope.

Fixed as of r2264 (caused by bad layer break detection).

I still get the freeze with r2436.

Are you using CDVDiso plugin? If so, the bug will still persist. You need to
use the
internal ISO loader.

I've tried Linuz Iso, cdvdGigahertz, P.E.OP.S, and CDVDNull driver plugins, and
all
produce same result.
