Also, I'd like a confirmation from someone [if possible] .. is this bug
exclusive to
DX9 or does it affect both DX9 and DX10?

Going by the thread on the forums, those that use dx10 are able to start races
just
fine on atleast half of the tracks. I obviously cant confirm this though so I
dont
have Windows Vista and therefore dont have direct X 10.

The only reason when GSDX crashes in GT4 for me it's when i set vertical
iternal
resolution more than double native, horisontal seems to works with more
numbers, but
be sure that vertical isn't more than double native
1024 for PAL
896 for NTSC

Cept you`d be playing it in dx10 to even get that far. And this threads about
the dx9
crash.

The crash in dx 9 hw appears when the game tries to render motion blur .You can
just
skip that effect and enter 408p mode in video output .The game is perfectly
playable
for me if i do so.But that mode removes many graphical aditions(motion blur
,bloom
lightning -so the sky becomes strange like it was clouded but it isnt)if you
want
normal graphics lightning go for dx10 hw mode it renders bloom alright(if you
don't
enter 408p mode) in moments when blur should be aplied on the screen the game
cuts
and goes on so no problem only problem with dx10 hw is that you wont have any
oncar
reflections

This crash happened or still happens due to a memory shortage.
The game is doing some effect that stresses the texture cache a lot.
Nothing much can be done about it, except some config options (hacks) that
bypass the problem.
