Regression: Scandal broken graphics #321

1) Did the game ever work correctly?

Sort of, graphics are fine up to rev 988.

2) What steps will reproduce the problem?

Running the game on rev 990 and newer (I don't have 989 to test).

3) What exactly happens when you experience this issue (listing any console
errors or screen output you recieve)?

Broken graphics, it only affects certain type of textures, using a
savestate of a correctly displayed screen and then loading it on a broken
build will display the correct output instead of beign broken, then on the
next screen it will corrupt.

4) What version of PCSX2 are you using? On what operating system?

PCSX 1533 / Windows XP Pro SP3

5) Please provide any additional information below.

The game is really picky about the intro FMV, it hangs in numerous ways and
totally at random varying from builds, usually after 3 seconds it gives a
TBL miss error, but in most cases is just seems to end on infinite loop on
the "Scandal" loading screen the framecounter then drops dramatically,
other builds skip the video at the TBL miss point, maybe is a timing issue
I couldn't even make a proper block dump of it.

There is a savestate included to avoid the loading intro FMV problem, title
screen will look fine pressing start will bring all the corruption.

To enter normally without the savestate I just wait until FMV fades it on
the first frames where it still transparent, and then press start, right
before the TBL miss, but is a matter of luck the loading screen hangs
sometimes before the FMV and buttom mashing seems to just worsen the
situation (timing?).

In any case the loading logo appears always and shows if the textures are
corrupted or not, prior to the random intro freeze.

Could you please get hold of a 989 to test, just to make it easier to find the 
problem

Took me a while, but yes the corruption is caused by rev 989 to be specific.

Tested with: PCSX2 r2271,GSdx r2270 (HW/SW),GSdx v0.1.14,ZeroGS, SPU2-X
r2217,roundmodes,clamping,SuperVU,VUint,IOPint

Game is VERY IOP sensitive. I managed to get past the first crash consistently 
by
enabling the IOPx2 hack. Couldn't get past it with IOPint even with the 
previous hack on.

Graphic corruption seems to not go away with anything used, looks like a core 
issue
but could be an identical GS plugin bug.

I've seen those 4 logos about 500 times to test this game :P

can this be retested please? looks like path3 masking errors, which should be 
nearly
resolved now.

Tested on r3356, the FMV crashes seems to have been fixed, the game intro is 
now stable, but it equires the EE Timing Hack to get past the MC screen (before 
entering the loading screen) otherwise it gets stuck.

Regarding the graphical corruption, is almost fixed it does look better, Menu 
screen is completely fixed, but both the scandal loading logo and press start 
screen are still half corrupted:

Also there is this warning somewhere around boot now:

GIFTAG error, size exceeded VU memory size 3ff

I have seen a few of these GIFTAG errors on other games in recent revs.
