Regression: Gunslinger Girl games not working without MTGS #329

1) Did the game ever work correctly?

Sort of, on 1370.

2) What steps will reproduce the problem?

Try to enter Story mode on 1385 with MTGS off, I can't tell the exact
revision, I don't have any build between 1370~1385 to test.

3) What exactly happens when you experience this issue (listing any console
errors or screen output you recieve)?

When entering story mode the GS seems to stop receiving updates while the
sound still plays, there is no crash just no more updates (0/0/0).

4) What version of PCSX2 are you using? On what operating system?

PCSX2 1533 / Windows XP Pro SP3

5) Please provide any additional information below.

Older revs had this on the console when passing succesfully, even though it
looks like an error:

sceGsSyncPath: VIF1 does not terminate

        <D2_CHCR=60000045:D2_TADR=00322a80:D2_MADR=00322b80:D2_QWC=00000000>
        <VIF1_STAT=11800040:GIF_STAT=00000000>

The hang does look like a sync issue, though this is not present on more
recent revs, is just as if the GS were left behind when trying to load 3D
stuff.

No special notes for this one, pressing all start should enter story mode.

Yes, it is broken on non MTGS mode, not that MTGS is fixing it, it used to work
without MTGS on revs prior and around 1370. I am not sure if the game is 
completely

The game seems to be still there, music keeps playing but the GS dies, happens 
on
both GSdx and ZeroGS, there is no console error.

okay, i know where the bug has originated from, bit of a pain to fix properly 
as its
a hack which stops it working correctly (we need the hack as we do not emulate 
the
FIFO correctly for it)

Is at your discresion, I wasn't even sure to report considering if non-MTGS 
mode is
removed somewhere in the future this shouldn't be an issue anymore.

one question, does the new revision still have the stated "VIF1 does not 
terminate"
error? if not, phew ;p

That was fixed somewhere between 1386~1408, with 1385 requiring MTGS to work 
but also
reporting the VIF1 message, since then is gone when entering story mode.

Yeah the VIF bug was fixed. although there seems to be another one with reverse 
fifo
 now lol

Need a retest with the latest PCSX2 SVN (where you can't disable MTGS anyway)

Tested on r2283 with defaults settings, game seems to work fine and goes beyond 
the
non-loading point mentioned above without problems.

Ok, marking as fixed.  (or could mark as WontFix since it's prolly a bug in the 
now-
defunct STGS logic path).  But fixed works too :)
