Silent Scope 2 [NTSC - U] : GFX/SFX do not initiate (black screen upon launching) (FW issue) #631

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
1. Launch Silent Scope 2
2. Everything seems to load fine (no errors), but the gfx never
initialize - stays at a black screen with no sounds.

What version of PCSX2 are you using? On what operating system? Plugins?
Has happened on every single build of PCSX2 that I've tried including the
latest betas (r2789). Using Win 7 - default plugins.

Please provide any additional information below.
- Emulog attached of the game launching (if it helps).
- Silent Scope 3 works perfectly

Let me know if there's anything else I can provide.

Ok, this is a firewire using game.
Assigning to refration, he knows it best :p

Seems FWlinuz goes a bit further than our usual null plugin, but also errors
out..

Seems that with FWlinuz and a slim ps2 bios (tester has v2.20), this game
passes the
hang point.
(Slim ps2 doesn't have fw anymore.)

Can you upload FWlinuz here please? I'm not a compiler and I can't find that
plugin
anywhere. Thanks!

Is the above mentioned configurtion the only way to get the game bootable?

Hey again, any chance of uploading the plugin? If there's a roundabout way of
playing the game currently I would like to try. Thanks!

Thanks for doing that rama, I really appreciate that.

Unfortunately, using that plugin and my v2.00 bios, it's still hanging before
boot
(using default settings of course - no hacks).

Is there something else I could be missing? You can get it working just fine
with
that config? Weird...

The BIOS is too old, I'm afraid. 2.20 is where it's at :p

the other bios's still assume firewire might be present, where the slim models
just
go "nope, that isnt gonna be there!" which is why the newer bios's ignore it.
Need to
work on the FW plugin a bit when i get chance. I did make a start ages ago ;p

No it's not. Read the posts. It runs fine. It's your setup/config.

You need a newer bios...again, as mentioned above....

So this issue can be closed unless you think they'll be a way to get it running
on old bioses.

and have you even tried the game on a real PS2

Ok, didn't know if you were referring to "the game doesn't run" or "the game
doesn't run on old bioses".

I missed that he said he could get it maybe working on the older ones. He has
worked on it since two years ago though and made it so the other FW plugin is
not needed anymore. So yeah, it's either wait for a potential fix (which may
never come since that comment was over two years ago) or get a newer bios. :)
