Street Fighter EX3 (NTSC-J) #696

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
1) Did the game ever work correctly (i.e. not have this problem) on the
Official PCSX2 build or an earlier version of PCSX2 playground?
The Japanese version didn't, as far as I remember.

2) What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run Street Fighter EX3 (the Japanese version)
2.
3.

3) What exactly happens when you experience this issue (listing any console
errors or screen output you receive)?
All I get is a black screen after the PS2 logo.

4) What version of PCSX2 are you using? On what operating system? Plugins?
R2975, in Windows Vista Home Premium x64.

5) Please provide any additional information below.
I tested both US and Japanese versions. The former did work, but the latter
didn't. I just wanna know why, and if it's a problem with the game or the
emulator itself.

Reporting: neither Street Fighter EX3 nor Onimusha Buraiden (both games NTSC-J)
run in PCSX2 r3576. I use it, with the default plugins, on Windows Vista Home
Premium x64.

Is this working now at all?

Still no progress in this line. Neither Onimusha Buraiden NTSC-J nor Street
Fighter EX3 NTSC-J work, even in the newest revisions, using the default
settings. Both games stop in a black screen right after the PS2 logo.

Just tested it with Onimusha Buraiden again with r4406, default settings.
I noticed these lines below appearing indefinitely in the program log screen.

sceGsSyncPath: DMA Ch.1 does not terminate
    <D1_CHCR=10000145:D1_TADR=00a081c0:D1_MADR=00a081c0:D1_QWC=00000014>
    <D2_CHCR=00000001:D2_TADR=00000000:D2_MADR=80002000:D2_QWC=00000000>
    <VIF1_STAT=10000c43:GIF_STAT=00000000>
libdma: sync timeout

Does it help?

Yeah, this is the kind of information we're after.
I don't have this game and we're pretty swamped with other issues now though,
so this'll have to wait.
(Unless someone else picks it up :p )

Just tested the two games with r4617, default settings (except for GSdx - used
DirectX10 instead of 9).

The results:

- Street Fighter EX3 (NTSC-J, SLPS-20003)
I noticed this line below in the log screen:
ELF (cdrom0:\SLPS_200.03;1) Game CRC = 0x63642E9F, EntryPoint = 0x00200008
(R5900) Re-executed ELF Entry point (ignored) [addr=0x00200008]
After this the game hangs in a black screen.

- Onimusha Buraiden (NTSC-J, SLPM-65411)
The looping lines from my previous post (with r4406) don't appear anymore, but
the game itself keeps hanging in the same black screen after this line:
ELF (cdrom0:\SLPM_654.11;1) Game CRC = 0x1483D6B9, EntryPoint = 0x00280008

Does this information help?

Still not working with r4995.
I've got these final lines in the Program Log:

(SYSTEM.CNF) Detected PS2 Disc = cdrom0:\SLPS_200.03;1
(SYSTEM.CNF) Software version = 1.20
(SYSTEM.CNF) Disc region type = NTSC
ELF (cdrom0:\SLPS_200.03;1) Game CRC = 0x63642E9F, EntryPoint = 0x00200008
csr.RESET
csr.RESET
csr.RESET
(R5900) Re-executed ELF Entry point (ignored) [addr=0x00200008]
csr.RESET

My graphic plugin configuration is this:

I hope this helps.

This issue is very old and as far as im aware all versions of EX3 work these
days, so closing for now. If this isn't the case, leave a message with new logs
and info and i will reopen.

No, unfortunately this is not fixed. I got the newer build that was released in
the same day of your reply, tested it with Onimusha Buraiden (which got the
same bug) and it still hangs after the PS2 logo, so it's likely that Japanese
SF EX3 will feature this same problem as well.
The log shows this:

Does the difference between the software version (1.02) and the BIOS I'm using

Both games are working here, though not the japanese versions. I don't think
this report is valid anymore.

I can confirm that Street Fighter EX3 (NTSC-J) [SLPS-20003] straight up does
_not_ work in PCSX 1.2.1 stable release. Like the original poster mentions it
just hangs on a black screen after loading. The American copy plays normally.
There has to be a reason for this incompatibility and I wish this bug report
would not be ignored, but four years later here we are.
