Monster Rancher 3 and 4, Disc swap not working correctly. #821

1) Did the game ever work correctly?

The game works fine, expect you cannot create monsters using saucer stones 
(Using a cd or dvd) Monster creating hasn't worked in any previous versions. 

Altought newest version detects the first disc you enter, it doesn't re-detect 
the monster rancher disc. And it keeps saying "please insert the monster 
rancher 3/4 disc.)

2) What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Trying to create a monster using the saucer stone (cd/dvd)

3) What exactly happens when you experience this issue (listing any console
errors or screen output you receive)?

1. I don't see any console errors, but i uploaded a picture, i dont know much 
about console stuff.. :(

4) What version of PCSX2 are you using? On what operating system? Plugins?

1. PCSX2, 0.9.7 beta. Revision 3576. Gsdx, gigahertz cdvd plugin for disc swap.

5) Please provide any additional information below.

ive gotten monster rancher 4 to read the monster rancher 4 iso and create a 
monster from that but 3 freezes after i try to create a monster using same mr3 
iso

Yup, Monster rancher 4 disc works, because it can detect the disc ( isn't it 
obvious? ) But you can't use any other disc to create a monster.

So basicly you're stuck with one monster that you can create from the monster 
rancher 4 disc. Or you can use cheats to get the full book, which isn't fun at 
all. Would be cool if the disc swap worked correctly, like in MR2 for example :)

I've had it working briefly with some hacks.
The game is just pretty annoying with the order it wants things to happen.
Ideally we would need to have a gui command to switch disks for this.

And would that be in the "low priority" section? 
Since games that use disc-swapping method in their gameplay can be counted on 
the fingers...

That's fine. I appreciate all the work you and the others have done for this 
emulator already. I just hope that someday i'll be playing fully playable 
monster rancher with pcsx2. :)

Someone mentioned that they can use a code to complete the book, can someone 
please direct me to that code? I've been looking everywhere. Saves don't work 
for me v.v

So the disc swap is actually working on newer versions? Haven't played with the 
emulator in a while. :p

Just clarification,
It's working, for a couple time at first i got this message "please insert the 
monster rancher 4 disc"
but and then somehow, its work perfectly :))

Please understand that talk about 'downloading' games suggests piracy.
I'm sure you own these games but it's not clear from your posts.

So disc swap itself is now working correctly, right?

So far my psx(PS1)and pc games are working. The game can recognize my ps2 
games, but after swapping it doesn't recognize my monster rancher 4 disc 
anymore.

At least it's partially working. Too bad i don't own many psx games. :p

It's working well on swapping disc. I have no problem at all, the only problem 
is too hard to find good monster on my DVD's. Now i'm finished the game 
anyway...
I think, I more like the monsters from where I finds on my Quest at 
Cave/Dungeon. I got my Joker & Dragon from there :)) Bye, have a nice day

This issue is indeed NOT fixed!
I don't want to sound ungrateful for everything you guys have done.
But I really need to play this game, please fix this issue as soon as you are 
able!

hey guys, i just figure it out how to regenerate monster from saucer stone in 
PCSX2..
you can use Playstation 1 cd images (.ISO/.Bin format).
Just use the normal ISO swapping (not plugin) when in the shrine.
i attach a screenshot of my PCSX2 bellow :)

but still, when i use Playstation 2 dvd images it keep says " Monster Rancher 4 
Disc is not in the Disc Tray"

Yeah, It was already known that CD's work while DVD's do not work. As Rama said 
this has extremely low priority, but maybe someday Monster Rancher games will 
be fully compatible with PSCX2. We'll just have to be patient.

People have already done amazing job with this emulator, probs to them. :)

Just letting you know that I'm still alive and waiting for the disc swap to be 
fixed. As mentioned before, PS1 games and CD's do work, but PS2 games and DVD's 
do not work. It's almost been 4 years now holy... hahahaha.

i all ready finnished MR1 and MR2 in PS1 now i skip mr3 im doing MR4 right now 
in PCSX2.i agree i did all the trick in the book doing Disc swapping and it 
didnt work but some did work. but when doing it all over again it will error. 
and now it always gets an error. thats all can say.
