Still crashing the emu with f4873 emuCR version

The game boots normally and freeze either you press start to go ingame or let
the demo mode run
In Zzogl you can see a fading/stripes screen effect when to press start so it's
maybe a unimplemented effect in gsdx

The issue is valid on both NTSC and PAL version of the game

My config is: core 2 duo 3ghz 4 gb DDr3 Win 7 home 64bits
ATI Radeon HD 4650 1 gb gdr 2

Thank you

Still crashing with GSDx r5412. Tested with Japan version on an i3 CPU with
Intel Integrated Graphics (for the record, it runs just fine until where the
fading/stripes screen effect shows up).

ZZOGL works but it has performance issues. ZeroGS works but displays odd bars
over the screen and stability/distortion/crash issues.

does it still crash if you put GSDX in software mode?

Yes. Tested with r5605. GSDx Direct3D9 (Software), as well as Null (Software)
also results in a crash at the exact same parts.

I looked in the GSDx bug reports and found a similar issue which the issue
reporter got around by running an older version of GSDx.

Seeing this I attempted to do so myself using the links to the old plugins in
PCSX2 Forum's GSDx thread, and would you believe XII Stag does not freeze on
GSDx 0.1.8 (MSVC 15.00). There is however a bug in the transition effect where
part of the texture is chopped out in a block. I've attached a screenshot
showing how it looks when the transition effect folds together at the Stage
Clear screen - I can't seem to get PCSX2 to look right pixel-for-pixel so I
suspect that's the reason some of the text is cut, but the blocks are very
noticeable.

Whatever change happened after 0.1.8 may be the culprit, but 0.1.8 is from 2008
or so so it's quite an old plugin to use.

Tested with PCSX v1.2.1.

At last, GSDx correctly runs XII Stag without crashing, at least DX9 Software
and the DX10 renderers did in my tests.

Could not test OpenGL variants because my card doesn't support them (Intel
Integrated 3000), but DX9 Hardware has some strange bar issues with it. I've
uploaded a screenshot showing the present issue, this was with default settings.
