Is it possible to completely disable the use of the system tray, i.e. only work 
with "normal" minimized windows ?

Yeah..  Look under Window/Behaviour, under "Show tray icon:" set it to "Never".

Sorry to bring up an old issue, but I'm running FuTTY 2012-06-22 and there does 
not appear to be an option for "Show tray icon:" anywhere!

There's a "Show tray icon" option under the "Connection" section..  I guess 
that setting should be moved to the "Window" section?

Yeah, definitely did not expect to find this under "Connection".  Should belong 
under "Window" somewhere.   Probably would not have ever found it on my own.   
Seems strange that minimize to tray is even the default.
