XCOM requires a mouse right-click to exit battlescape screens, e.g., motion scanner screen. I have verified it works properly w/ a 3-button mouse (Logitech M305). However, when using a laptop without a properly buttoned mouse, I have not found any key-trackpad combination that will result in release of the screen, e.g., Ctrl, Opt/alt, or Cmd.
Perhaps this is an upstream'r for OpenXCOM? It's possible this more broadly affects any system with only a trackpad.
