Hello Peter,
Some background
I don't know if it hit you but (presumably) changes at the Amazon servers made them more fussy about the construction of http accept headers, so authentication stopped. All explained here https://github.com/cakebake/node-red-contrib-alexa-remote-cakebaked/issues/22
The chap who runs the appelstrudel fork @bbindreiter found out the problem and solution here: https://github.com/cakebake/node-red-contrib-alexa-remote-cakebaked/issues/22#issuecomment-853162235
Everyone who implemented that got a working system. Then, since the node red depends on libraries here https://github.com/Apollon77/alexa-remote @bbindreiter contacted @apollon77 who implemented the fix. The version you installed should simply have worked.
If you didn't hit the authentication problem, and hence didn't implement the fix, then you might be the only person who upgraded without previously having done so. I upgraded with no problems, but I had implemented the fix.
If that is the case, perhaps @bbindreiter and @apollon77 might investigate?
Regards
Brian Williams

I've tried to install V 4.03 based on recommendations from Peter's website but none of my Echo devices give any speech output. The debug output shows success but no sound.
@davemclaughlin Do Not disturb mode activated maybe? Disable it
About a week ago I fitted the months-old version of Cakebaked to my RPI4 installation and ran some tests in Node-Red - it worked a treat. Spot of English text, an attempt at Spanish SSML - all worked.
Then last night, one of my blog readers said he could not get it to work and suggested the APFELSTRUDEL variation, upgraded 4 days ago.
I wrote in the blog that I was happy with Cakebaked and happened to notice that Cakebaked was upgraded 5 days ago - I could not resist upgrading to the 4-day old version and guess what - it's stopped working. Any chance of a fix? I'd rather stay put.
