Integrating Linear with Jira to enable collaboration between teams using different platforms can be a useful strategy. While I don't have specific information about synclinear.com, I can provide you with general guidance on how you might approach this integration:
Research Existing Integrations: Start by checking if there are existing integrations available for Linear and Jira. Both platforms often have a range of integrations, and you might find one that suits your needs. You can explore the official marketplace for each tool to identify existing connectors or plugins. Use Middleware or Integration Platforms: Consider using middleware or integration platforms like Zapier, Integromat, or Tray.io. These platforms allow you to create custom workflows and automations between different tools without extensive coding. You may be able to set up rules that trigger actions in Linear based on events in Jira and vice versa. Custom API Integrations: If you have development resources, you can explore building a custom integration using the APIs provided by Linear and Jira. Both platforms typically offer APIs that allow you to programmatically interact with the data and functionality of the system. This would involve writing code to handle the synchronization of comments, updates, and changes between the two platforms. Evaluate Third-Party Solutions: There might be third-party solutions or tools specifically designed for integrating Linear and Jira. These could be commercial products or open-source projects that offer pre-built connectors or plugins. Check online forums, developer communities, or relevant marketplaces for such solutions. Consider Collaboration Features in Jira: Jira itself has collaboration features. Depending on your specific use case, you might explore if the collaboration features within Jira can meet your needs. This might include sharing comments, attaching relevant documents, and mentioning users from different teams. Sync Relevant Data: Clearly define what data needs to be synchronized between the two platforms. This includes comments, updates, attachments, and any other relevant information. This will help you in designing an integration that meets your specific requirements.
@Aks11-11 Thank you. I would still like to hear from someone maintaining synclinear.com to propose that this support be added.
Closing this as outside of project scope.
Linear supports Jira sync in-house, which could maybe be used in tandem with this service.
One software team at my company uses Jira. We use Linear.
What we could benefit from is almost exactly what synclinear.com does, but integrating Linear with Jira, so on occasion, when both teams need to be able to collaborate on a ticket, we can both do so on our respective platforms, syncing all comments, updates, and changes.
