Autokey hangs up #147

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Run Autokey (every time, for me).
2. It either fails to connect Errno 111, or it hangs up later.

If it fails to connect, the AutoKey QT process is still running, but it never
appears on screen. You have to kill the process to try again.

If it does load, then you can do some things, but nothing really valuable. You
might create a new folder, but be prevented from renaming it. You select the
text of the name, and it won't respond to attempts to overtype it.

You can begin to create a shortcut phrase, but not be able to assign it to any
abbreviation or hotkey. Click on OK or save or whatever, and it just doesn't
respond.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Expectations are to allow user to:
* Load the program 99% of the time
* Rename "New folder" to something else
* Assign a phrase to an abbreviation
* Assign a phrase to a hotkey

Running on ubuntu.

Please provide any additional information below.

Why is it connecting? Is it running on the network? Does intermittent failure
imply a network issue, or that there are too many Autokey QT users at the same
time?

Please start by trying the latest version from the PPA. You will need to
install autokey-gtk as part of this process as the QT UI is no longer supported.
