SamuLng commented 3 years ago

After upgrading to pop os 21.04 i can't get Fondo to work on my pc anymore. Once I have chosen the wallpaper I get the message "Error while getting peer-to-peer dbus connection: Unable to connect: File or directory does not exist".

batsteek commented 3 years ago

I confirm the issue. Same is version.

Same problem in Pop OS 21.04

add xdg-run/gvfsd in Filesystem using Flatseal (download from Flathub) worked for me. Captura de tela de 2022-01-01 20-24-38 l reference https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/515

Same issue on Pop_OS 21.04

mnieminen commented 2 years ago

The same issue started happening for me today when clicking any image, right after installing Pop_OS 21.04. image

mnieminen commented 2 years ago

On Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, adding app permissions for Fondo to xdg-run/gvfsd using Flatseal makes the error message go away, but Fondo still does not work. It does not update the background image.

same issue with fedora 37, fondo flatpak version

AsimAJ33 commented 1 year ago

Same here; adding app permissions makes the error go away and can download wallpapers but when trying to get it just says "Your new wallpaper is ready" and doesn't set it

For those who don't want to install an extra software to fix the problem, here's the command line version of the "fix": sudo flatpak override com.github.calo001.fondo --filesystem=xdg-run/gvfsd

Hi! first time on Github; I tried to use Fondo following instructions in the Github page; unfortunately I've the same problem as others; I use Endeavour Os (Arch) with KDE Plasma immagine I'll leave an hard copy of the screen with the error. Also the app won't close; I've to kill it from htop. Thank you in advance

To fix this issue I had to add add xdg-run/gvfsd to "Other files" like suggested here, but also needed to enable access to "D-Bus session bus". However, in GNOME 44 the background only changes when Style is set to "Default". It doesn't look like Fondo can change the background for "Dark" style.

mnieminen commented 1 year ago

I can confirm what @mca-gif wrote above, that the background image does not change only if Gnome Background is set to Dark, but it works if Gnome Background is set to Light. Also, if I use Fondo to change the background when on Light mode, and then switch the background in Settings > Desktop > Appearance to Dark, it switches the wallpaper back to whatever was set manually last time when in Dark mode.

Background change works in Light but not in Dark mode

I verified this on Pop_OS 22.04 LTS.
