Because the waiting time for you to merge is too long, I merge a part of the commits from https://github.com/cameroncondry/cbc-kitten-scientists/pull/319. I am sorry for troubling you.

I ran this for a little bit and didn't have any issues, but I have misplaced my testing save. This looks safe to implement and thank you for the update!
