We assume that algae are landed wet. The landed weight is registered when the algae is wet. According to SUBESCA the avarage loss of weight from wet to dry is 25%. We used that number as the yield of the algae.
We did not find yield data for sea cucumber and medusa. We used a value of 1. This could overestimate the DHC values of these species but we believe this does not have a high influence in our analysis.
for calculating human consumption we are assuming that dry algae goes all to HC (probably indirectly). Same with dehydrated products
In our model, we are not considering the internal transportation of fish along the regions. We assume that what it is landed in one region is exported from the same region.
We are including landings form international waters because data is detailed per region. We assume that what caught in international waters but is landed in Chile will be commercialized in Chile (either for exports or for local consumption)
