Figure 4: It’s not clear why reused water from irrigation was much lower in the private agricultural water scenario. Was that because farmers didn’t need much more than ~3,500 Mm3/year because of their more efficient irrigation systems? Since the price of water is higher in that scenario, I would have assumed that there would also be a higher incentive to reuse irrigation water instead of continuing to draw more from the groundwater.

To support this one, I can argue that the treated wastewater coming from residential use will indeed be more competitive due to the higher cost of water paid by the farmer. However, when it comes to the pond system implementation the available water to reuse from farming will be directly linked to the efficiency of the irrigation scheme and if the crop is not under water stress. Moreover, the scenarios can be then presented as high-efficiency irrigation schemes, medium efficiency and low efficiency.
