Separate out ramjets #50

They don't need most of the stuff that turbojets do, and it would save a lot of awkward CPR==1 checks.

One question remains though: do they throttle as they approach max temperature or should they be allowed to overheat?

NathanKell commented 8 years ago

Will they hit max temperature? I thought the problem was at about M=5 you can't slow the freestream to subsonic and combustion fails.

I don't think it's inconceivable that the temperature could get to dangerous levels (based on the numbers I've seen), but it's possible that this isn't the limiting factor. According to the TPR curves AJE uses, the inlets function ok until about 7-8, but that doesn't account for whether they can actually change their throat area to keep flow in the engine subsonic at higher speeds. A naive model of a ramjet in AJE would probably function acceptably up to mach 6-7.
