+1 for me
Isn't that something that has to be changed in the c2cgeoportal
project ?
It concerns the mobile css, thus https://github.com/camptocamp/c2cgeoportal/blob/master/c2cgeoportal/scaffolds/update/%2Bpackage%2B/static/mobile/resources/sass/app.scss
I don't think that CGXP contains anything concerning the mobile app...
Sorry, I don't see that's for the mobile app ..., repopened
It would be a good idea if we were sure that users know what the "map" icon means. A user test would probably tell us. I can easily agree with such a modification though.
As a comparison: In http://maps.geoportail.lu/mobile/ , we don't use any "home" nor "map" icon. In http://m.myswissalps.ch/ , we use a "map" icon.
Thanks @pgiraud . Maybe a "back" button instead of a "map" could do the job, but I personnally like more the "map" button, but not the one of Swissalps... What do you think @kalbermattenm ?
I have a bit the same considerations as @pgiraud:
If we consider what has been discussed these last days (and the underlying workflow, see image), then I think that we should effectively create some kind of "map" button, but I'm unsure about the image we should use. Either something like Google, either some kind of "world" icon, or just a text...
In my opinion, it would be better to have an icon, and not a textual button (like "back"). Even if I don't like it, I would go for a "Google-like" button...
Forwarding this issue to @mriedo... Wondering what he thinks of it...
Thanks @kalbermattenm for analysis. So I would say for conclusion that we should find the ideal "map" icon to put on the button...
I agree that we need a good map icon ... the one used by swissalps is not bad but not optimal Looking around, seems to me that the one used by GE is quite convincing : http://sitn.ne.ch/web/diffusion/mapicon.gif
It may be a bit off-topic but I would like to mention that in the current c2cgeoportal mobile application there's no animated transition at all. I think it would help a lot for the usability though (if wisely used).
Could you remind me what are "animated transition" on a mobile app ?? Any example ?
Same question as MK ... and what does it bring tu usability ?
The better example is the current Luxembourg mobile application. Animations between views transitions can help the user understand the workflow. A similar animation for different views can mean that the new views are of the same type. With a sliding animation to the right, it's easier for the user to understand what will happen if there's an arrow button in the new view. Animated transition are used a lot in mobile application.
The reason why I chose to avoid animations when I worked on the c2cgeoportal mobile application was that I encountered some weird issues. With the Luxembourg's experience, I'm now more confident.
Pierre, did you find a cool map icon for the mobile (to replace the home-house button) ?
By the way, congrats for the improvements in the mobile - new interface ! Looks great
For the animated transitions, you can send us a proposal (how much time is needed)
The best one I see is the @gnerred proposal !
Yes ... but I don't see @gnerred image :O) ! Something like this : http://sitn.ne.ch/web/diffusion/mapfish/back2map.png
Wouldn't it be better to have a map icon instead of a home icon in mobile interface ? This button leads every time to the map, it would be clearer for user, not ?
