Document role management in Identity #388

Context

A core functionality of Identity is the management of roles, to make these management tasks as accessible as possible for all we should detail how to achieve each goal.

@Ben-Sheppard Was this taken care of? I can see docs for adding a role, but I'm not sure about editing. Please close this issue if work is complete, otherwise provide a status update in a comment or tick the boxes in the description.

Hi @akeller - at the moment editing a role is not supported, we still need to provide documentation I believe for deleting a role so I would like to leave this issue open for now if that is ok

@Ben-Sheppard @christinaausley is this within scope of of the restructuring work? In the UI screenshots, I see a trash icon for deleting roles. Is this complete as described in the issue definition?

@akeller The first iteration of the restructuring work is complete, but I can add this into the second iteration if we want to condense it.

Oh wow this is an old issue, sorry for not clearing it up :/ - @christinaausley this is actually a topic I wanted to discuss with you, how far do we take documentation for example deleting a entity is literally clicking that trash can and then confirming, is that something we really need to document?

Maybe we could include this in the chat about the other issue to clear up?

Update! I had a chat with @christinaausley today regarding this and no better understand where to draw the line with documentation, in this case whilst we don't need an entire page on deleting a role we could add a small admonition with a hint to the user that roles can be deleted via the trash can icon.

I will follow up with a PR in due course!

What's the status of this issue? I couldn't find anything on deleting users in the SM docs. Is this possible and just undocumented @Ben-Sheppard?

You can not delete users but you can delete roles. I have created an issue in our repo, so we can track it on our board: https://github.com/camunda-cloud/identity/issues/2214
