Backed out the Drupal 8 / Endpoint 2 changes and confirmed working with Drupal 7.50+ and Moodle 3.3.1 with Endpoint 1

Are you sure you want to be pushing a change from the 1.x branch to the 2.x branch? I'd really prefer to see this come from your 2.x line.
