Ownership and broadness #136

As mentioned in @pmahnke's presentation, we should enshrine in practices that people should take ownership and care about the wider context of work and the team. Expand your horizons etc.

What are some things we could consider to ensure everyone has that broader perspective?

20% time to work outside of your current project, perhaps on Fridays?

I like the idea of trying to consider what processes we could adopt to achieve @pmahnke's goal.

I also like the idea of 20% time, but I don't think it's quite the broadness that @pmahnke meant. I feel it would be valuable for 20% time to be quite open, in that you can explore any technology or idea that inspires you.

But I think what @pmahnke meant was being aware of the overall strategy of the product you work on, or how it relates to other Canonical products, how it related to Canonical's overall evolution as a company, and also caring about disciplines that surround and interact with yours - often in our case, design, UX, Marketing etc.
