@deadlight thanks for raising me and @anthonydillon were discussing this point a couple of weeks ago.
I would like to implement something similar to MAAS displaying the latest version in the footer, it would also be good to roll this out on docs.vanillaframework.io also.
@kwm14 that sounds like a good idea. Perhaps we could enhance the download instructions to give the real URL rather than the "x.x.x" one, too. If we're putting it in the footer then it can be done with a variable to avoid any manual content updating.
I would go one further the highlight the latest version on the homepage as we have a short release cycle.
@deadlight @anthonydillon 👍
We discussed yesterday instead of putting the version in the footer we will explore putting it in the hero of the site. I will provide a design for @deadlight to reference when building 👍
Some numbers from Event tracking which could influence the position/arrangement of the versioning.
Looking at event tracking numbers and how other frameworks display versioning.

Summary
Nowhere in the vanillaframework.io site or the documentation is the current version number of Vanilla stated. This is important information (especially since we give links to the hosted version with "x.x.x" placeholders).
