Weight and “Roman” stored in name table #35

In the current build process I’m getting the word “Roman” and some weight names (Light in proportional, Regular in Mono) showing up in the basic name table records like name ID 1...not sure it should be? I’m not where the “Roman” is coming from or if this is desirable?

Sorry, Roman is coming from builder distinguishing roman from italic postscript names in name 25 (see #36).

But I’m still wondering if we should have Ubuntu-Light appearing as the name ID 1 in the VF rather than just Ubuntu?

I don’t think this this will be a problem, I’ve seen this on many fonts (from Google).

I can’t find the reference now, but IIRC there was a fontbakery check that checked that ID 1 and 2 matches default instance to get the name correctly on apps that doesn’t support VF instances.
