Add locl feature for NLD IJacute #71

Open glenda-tn opened 1 year ago

glenda-tn commented 1 year ago

șprițuit (comma) = şpriţuit (cedilla)? ç ŞPRIŢ

don't forget these also have smcp forms

glenda-tn commented 1 year ago

Should NLD be supported?

glenda-tn commented 1 year ago

Should you also add CAT?

djrrb commented 1 year ago

Adding ROM, MOL, and CAT.

If I’m not mistaken, NLD IJacute support would require additional drawing so I’m leaving that as an enhancement.

Replacing the iacute j' by j_acutecomb, or iacute j by ijacute, is problematic because the current stress mark spelling rule was only standardized in the 1996 spelling. The official spelling (rule 5.1) says "the stress mark on the j of the lange ij is usually omitted" and provides an example, so text may follow 1996 or 2006 spelling and not have an acute on j. Some users choose to only put one stress mark on vowels spelled with different letters as was often done before the current rule became the standard in 1996. Foreign names like the Spanish "Níjar" also do not have an acute on j intentionally. The future proof way to put the acute on j is by using j acutecomb (j́).
