I suspect you're running an older version of snapd that doesn't support the feature yet - please double check you're using snapd 2.65 or newer. We'll add a UI fix for this soon that disables the toggle button if the prompting feature isn't supported.

My version (after "apt update; apt upgrade") is 2.63.1+24.04

Can you please refer to the announcement post here which covers the requirements for running this feature while it is still in an experimental state. You will need to explicitly install the edge build of snapd as well as the prompting-client snap to get things to work.
