This would be beneficial for cases in which users can't successfully get screenlockers to actually lock the user session and also give the ability for VNC server to persist through the lock (since the server is generally bound to a DISPLAY/VT). In my case, I have an issue where I can switch to my session VT (ctrl+alt+F7) from the greeter and the session is never locked (despite efforts to use light locker etc) - and that wouldn't solve the VNC issue. This is somewhat of a security concern (not being able to lock my session). The best solution would be to have the ability to render the greeter in the same VT as the session.
