As far as we are aware, those denials should have no effect on your experience. We may try to silence those logs in the future.
I'm told there is process management functionality in Steam that relies on being able to read the /proc/*/environ
of games. If it can't read the /proc/*/environ
of at least its own processes, then that functionality (whatever it is) is not going to work as intended.
I can't clarify exactly what functionality (I am not a Steam developer and I don't have access to its proprietary code) but someone in Valve might be able to advise.
