The Legacy installer has a feature where it periodically reads the current percent complete for the install after getting to the slideshow part of the install. The new installer does not do anything like this.
What was expected?
Reading the percent complete is one idea. Here's another:
The installer could announce that Ubuntu is being installed and this may take several minutes. When the install is finished, it could announce that the install is finished.
Perhaps this could be done by automatically reading the title or start of the page when it is presented. That has other benefits since it is difficult for someone who can't see the screen to know what page they are looking at in the install.
Steps to reproduce
Boot the installer ISO
After it plays the welcome sound, press Super+Alt+S to turn on the screen reader
Complete the install. Once you get to the slideshow, there is no audio feedback and no ability to do anything with the keyboard, until eventually the install completes. At that point, there is no audio feedback but at least keyboard navigation reveals the "Restart now" or "Continue testing" buttons.
