Ubuntu live session stuck at 100% CPU (/snap/ubuntu-desktop-installer/1267/usr/bin/python3.10) #2379

What happened?

When you select Try Ubuntu, the following process gets stuck using 100% CPU:

/snap/ubuntu-desktop-installer/1267/usr/bin/python3.10 -m subiquity.cmd.server --use-os-prober --storage-version=2 --postinst-hooks-dir=/snap/ubuntu-desktop-installer/1267/etc/subiquity/postinst.d

What was expected?

No significant CPU usage in an idle live session.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Boot Ubuntu 23.10.1 from USB.
  2. Select 'Try Ubuntu'

Additional context

I suppose using the legacy ISO should work around this?

I am not sure if it's related but using the exact same steps as above and looking in the System Monitor app I couldn't see any activity in the processes list including in file system read but the resources tab I could see my CPU running one core at 100%, switching to another core and running at 100% and so on, it wouldn't stop and my fans were running louder than idle too

Same here about 5 min. after starting installed Kubuntu 23.10 on Dell Optiplex 755 (Intel Core2Duo E8400).

A simple workaround is to just never click on 'Try Ubuntu' because you have full access to the live session even before that; just press Super+A

I don't see that. And i did DEV testing for Mantic during the Dev Cycle. Please post a new thread on "Ubuntu Forums" > "Installations and Updates" section and we'll (the members there) will try to help you there... Note that we are not connected with Canonical. We are just volunteer users.

I'm sorry for my post here: My proplem is connected to KDE-Plasma(heavy disk-usage all of a sudden . . .) as when I start with Gnome- or Ubuntu-Desktop (Wayland or X11) there are NO PROGLEMS ! Sorry !
