Non applicable no variant prompt #3157

Why is this needed?

This PR solves all of our problems because if fixes the unnecessary variant auto-selection prompts in situations where they weren't helpful

Test Steps

tox run -e behave features/realtime_kernel.feature:400 features/realtime_kernel.feature:44

All CI failures observed here are related to the problem in the security backend - sorry pro fix
