False alarm, I just got Ramtah'd. So the outcome of a scan depends on two factors a) combo match/miss b) if the piece of data has already been decrypted by the Cmdr (plus this is further complicated by the occasional message delay from Ram Tah).

  1. good combo + new data => Covas chime:"Mission crit. message rcvd." + Data decrypted message from Ram Tah
  2. good combo + duplicate data => no chime, no message
  3. wrong combo => Covas chime:"Mission crit. message rcvd." + Wrong combo message from Ram Tah grouped under the mission invite message, probably buried deep in the mbox.

I took the silence of 2. for "wrong combo", then the chime of 3. as "good combo" (with the most recent message from the J03 scan == Tech8.
