You know, that is an interesting idea.
I did not try packaging it, since the script installs it very easily, however it would be an idea to try doing so in the future.
Currently, it is above my skill level, do to the sheer amount of work it would be to package all of the components, especially since some of them are compiled via other compilers, such as Ruby.
Dude he is busy can you host this and build packages, someone has to do it.
Unfortunately, I am not yet at the point I can handle this much. I have to do things step by step, otherwise nothing will come out of it (I'm extremely bad at keeping time).
are you speaking on behalf of @cantalupo555 or you the @cantalupo555? Also, I saw one guy doing it via github actions i.e automatically packaging. Maybe we could do that.
Neither, I am working on behalf of myself.
Who was it? It would certainly be nice to speak to them?
Yeah, I came across the repo but I can't remember. I tried searching yesterday but no avail.
Just move to arch or arch based distro and use chaotic mirror Most aur packages comes prepackaged Solus is hard to use cause the devs most of the time doesn't wanna help in packaging apps u need
@Bhooty I am sorry, however as someone who has been in the Solus community for around half a decade, and who helps out a bit(barely, limited mainly to FlashROM) with packaging for the official repo, I can say that you do not understand the point of using Solus.
Also, it's good that the main devs, such as @JoshStrobl, are this strict in regards to what is permitted and what is not, since for curated distro such as Solus, this upholds it's quality.
Are there packages I want that are rejected? Yes. Do I agree with everything that goes on with Solus management? No.
However, there is no denying that the the guys currently managing, while not perfect (no one is), know what they are doing much more than you and me, so if Solus doesn't fit your specific needs, sure switch to something else, but don't come claiming that Solus is hard to use because of the devs not wanting to help (which by the way, is false, they do want to help, however to properly help, you need stable priorities, and not everything that we think is proper actually is), just because your needs are different.
I personally really want Microsoft Edge to be officially packaged in Solus, something that will never happen until, at the very least, an officially stable version of released for Linux, and even then, express permission from Microsoft will have to be granted, preferably with a license that allows redistribution, such as GPLv2 or MIT, or even Apache, before any talks about it can even begin. Keeping standards is crucial to keeping such large projects but only alive, but thriving.
So I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with moving to Arch, I'm only asking to not confuse personal needs and wants with how an organization runs, since not everyone has the same needs.
Homebrew is an additional package manager that installs the stuff you need apart from which is already packaged. https://brew.sh/
