For shorter flights, the previous flight's delay status (which would use the same plane) would be a strong estimator of the next delay in the current estimator.

Lots of > 1000 mins in delay? Interesting - how long does it flow into the next day? Assuming daily flights? Or asking differently, are we distinguishing between the “same” flight, but occurring on the next day?

We had a discussion and decide to think about later.
