You are doing a great job man! I'm serious. I know how much work it is to maintain code.

Yes, I'm completely fine to replace enable by requestEnable for ANY Android version. I was afraid to have to have to deal with two different APIs in my app.

I'm still on 2.x of your plugin. Would you consider to backport if it's not too much work? I guess that it's only one patch to backport.
