Pressing reblog button under a toot will do the animation that turns it from gray to orange. I can cancel the action by touching elsewhere than reblog/quote menu on the bottom, or starting a quote but cancelling it by closing the editor. In both cases the reblog button remains orange as if I finished the reblog.
Note this seems to only happen when "Show confirmation dialog before repeating" is disabled in the setting. Otherwise the animation that turns the reblog button orange doesn't occur at all... until a reblog is fully performed. Which is to be expected.
