Wing Commander I: No CD music #78

Wing Commander 1 plays sound, but does not play any of the red book CD music.

As far as I can tell WC1 can not be installed to HDD like WC2, and I see no other options to enable music manually.

WC1 is HDD installable. (Rather, HDD installation is recommended) I can't show you how to install it right away, so please wait for help from others.

Thanks. Is that also the reason the music is not playing? I'll futz around with trying to get the game installed then. Can it be done from TownsOS, or do I need to boot DOS (or something else)?

I suppose you are starting Wing Commander I from "Wing A" instead of "ウイング A". I think "Wing A" icon does not have a command-line option +m, which I believe for CDDA music. If you start from "ウイング A", you should have CDDA music. If you want to play in English, you will miss the opening music, but you should be able to enable CDDA bgm by pressing Ctrl+M after entering the bar.

Also, choose "WINGCOMMANDER1" in the application tab, or use -APP WINGCOMMANDER1 (or -APP WC1) option to enable mouse.

Hey thanks! It is indeed exactly as you describe, and I just played a couple of missions with music enabled. I see now why a HDD install is preferable, since music frequently cuts out whenever the game needs to access the disc.

Wing Commander 1 is one of my favorite games, especially FM TOWNS port with CDDA BGM. Enjoy!
