The web form is quite lengthy (but I suppose necessary) and many of the questions require detailed, near accurate answers which I thought perhaps not everyone would have (e.g. the depth in mm of the insulation beneath your house floors) – which I also thought doesn’t tally up with one of the problems they say they’re addressing of often inaccurate info being input by householders on other similar tools out there.
Some questions could be clearer e.g. “is your home a flat or apartment” (suggests a difference upon reading and is cumbersome to digest when going through the entire form of detailed questions) could be “is your home a flat/apartment?” or just “is your home a flat?”
A few typos in the form.
Results page: nice how it simply splits up the results into the core categories of carbon, cost and comfort. They use simple and effective bar charts however these are not always so clear in terms of what measurement is assigned to what (see screenshot example below of ‘Carbon Emissions Rating’ – what is the bills referring to on the chart, would have expected a £ unit on a graph axis – unless I’m majorly misunderstanding?).
No comparison/possible call to action prompted by the results e.g. they say it will help you find out how to reduce your energy bills/improve the comfort/make your house energy greener – but from the results no other information helps the user plot their scope for improvement, only overall house stats are given with no comparisons – e.g. to a greener/cheaper/more comfortable house of your type. There is a ‘Find out more’ button at the end of the results page but that did not render anything for me (seems like it would otherwise give UK average comparisons of your house results – but that still doesn’t really help give a call to action on the how/where improvements could be made for best impact… unless the tool isn’t for that?)
