create outlines based on headers

You can create a table of contents to accomplish what you are trying to do via the Format -> Add Table of Contents menu item.

You can create a table of contents to accomplish what you are trying to do via the Format -> Add Table of Contents menu item.

By outlines I mean the bookmarks of the pdf, which usually show up on the side in Adobe Acrobat.

Thanks for the additional information. We will try to improve this in the future. For now, we are using a library for exporting to PDF that doesn't support bookmarks.
