Preferences are for the editor only. In order to change the font of preview, you need to modify the preview theme. You can do that from View › Preview Theme. If you're familiar with CSS it should be an easy task.
Thanks, @erusev, for the explanation. I misunderstood the entries in the preferences – font is for the normal text in the editor, and codeFont is for programming code in the text. So, it's all clear to me now. And yes, I am familiar with CSS, so no problem to change the font in the preview. Thanks again!
If I change the font names in the preferences (to those of installed fonts, of course, in my case "Liberation Mono" for the editor and "Liberation Sans" for the preview), nothing changes. There is always a default sans-serif font in both the editor in the preview.
