I can swipe to the camera just fine from lockscreen. Try a newer build. If i
dont hear back in 3 days, i'm going to assume this is working fine on a newer
build for you and close out.

I installed cm-10.1-20130206-UNOFFICIAL-evita.zip last night and I still have
this issue. Interestingly I can't swipe to any position other than directly
right no matter what I try. Also when I wake the phone there are white boxes
on the screen.
I don't think I've done a factory reset with the current release. Should I try
that?

Yes please try that.
And snag a screenshot of these "white boxes" you are seeing too....thats very
weird.

I just tried that and it didn't help. I did attempt to take a screenshot, with
my phone and couldn't. I'll need to use someone else phone to do so. How
should I send you the image?

put it on imgur or another hosting site and send me a link. Make sure no
personal information is on the screenshot as this site is open to all internet
users.
You also have to swipe from the very edge of the screen on the right -> left to
get camera app to come up.

Ugh, now it is stuck displaying the emergency call screen and I can't get it to
go away!

OK, more details on the screen and the boxes on the screen.
If I swipe left to right, I get a blank panel with a + sign on it.
If I swipe, right to left, I get the camera in a panel.
If I swipe top to bottom, I get the lock icon, but I can't unlock the phone.
If I swipe bottom to top, I get the emergency call thing and I'm stuck.
Now here is the bizarre part, if I don't swipe nearly immediately the Emergency
call screen is displayed and I can't do anything else.
Now, all of this non-sense started occurring when I set a PIN code on the lock
screen as that is a required policy for my corporate email.

Final update, if I HOLD the lock button, it launches the PIN entry screen. So
now, I can launch the Camera and unlock the phone, but still not launch Google
Now. Make sense?
I now might be able to capture a screen shot and send it along.

After reading the posts I think I understand what is going on. It sounds like
@ron is caught/confused between the lockscreen widgets and the Slider shortcuts.
If you are using the "Slide" Screen lock method you can go into Settings->Lock
Screen->Slider shortcuts to customize the slider actions. On a clean install
the only option is slide the circle to the right for unlock, you have to go
into settings (see above) and add the other actions.
The CM10.1 lockscreen features lockscreen widgets (those white boxes), one of
which is the camera. As far as I can see there isn't a Google Now lockscreen
widget, for that you'll have to use the "Slide" lock screen and customize the
slider (the circle).
It took me a bit to get used to the new lock screen, but I've found that I
don't miss the slider at all, just swiping to the camera is awesome.
Hope this helps, I can post up some screen shots to try and illustrate what I'm
talking about if you are interested.

Thanks for that explanation and that now makes sense. I find it odd that upon
wake that those boxes appear, but at least I know understand where this is
coming from.

Those boxes are definitely normal in 4.2. They remind you that you can swipe
between various lock screen pages.
