WiFi won't connect to Clear router #92

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. wipe data and install ROM and Gapps
2. Select Clear router and type in password
3. Says connecting then goes back to saved, secured with WPA 2

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
On sense, I am able to connect to my Clear router at home without any issues.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
nightly 20120904

Please provide any additional information below.
Router and Internet provider: http://www.clear.com/devices/details/id/devwifi

Online it says that it uses a 2.5 GHz WiMax connection

I noticed the same behavior when using an LTE MiFi hotspot - I know seems
counterintuitive to connect to an LTE hotspot with an LTE phone But it was done
for a reason. I got the Grey WiFi bars, and the status said "Connected" but it
never did anything. I couldn't ping through to Amy known boxes on the
network...

We are building with much newer firmware starting with 10/05 nightly. Please
give it a shot and report back!

This problem persist for 10/6 nightly on a Clear Hub modem. Samsung Captivate
running CM9 (as well as 3 computers on Win8 and Win7) has no problems
connecting to WPA2. Also tried connecting via WPS which failed as well.

Not sure if it's related, but I'm seeing WiFi not disconnecting after driving
away from the AP.
I've seen this behavior at work with a NetGear Router, at home with a D-Link
DIR-655, at parent's AT&T U-Verse 2-Wire and at sister's D-Link WRT-54G.
Since it doesn't disconnect and it thinks it's within WiFi Range, no data
connection is available until the next AP is available.

Running 10/10 and something has changed. Before it would go to saved instantly.
But with 10/10, I can see it trying to connect for a few seconds before going
to saved.

itaintrite: can you swing a logcat on one of the newer nightlies since we did
the wifi updates? Hoping to find some goodies in there to straighten this out
for you guys :(. Please try with 10/12 nightly or later and snag me a logcat if
you wouldn't mind!

Update: On 11/3 Nightly, this problem persists. Not sure if it matters but I
did cache and dalvik wipe with update from 10/12, not a complete system wipe.
Thanks.

Update: Tried on CM 10.1 nightly 20121225 and still was not able to connect to
the Clear modem.
Switched back to recently updated stock JB 4.1 and was able to connect without
difficult. Thanks.

Can I get a logcat of this not working on CM, and a logcat of it working on JB
Sense?
