Remove 🤡 #1005

Closed NatoBoram closed 2 years ago

NatoBoram commented 2 years ago

Issue #176 and PR #177 introduce the 🤡 emoji, which is often used in hate speech context.

176 does not conform to the current issue template, which would highlight several issues from that emoji in the first place.

Hello @carloscuesta :sunglasses:!

  • Emoji: 🤡
  • Code:
  • Description: Mocking things

Describe the use case of your emoji

Mock, insult or otherwise denigrate someone or something.

Is this use case covered by an existing emoji?

This is already completely covered by the emoji 💡 and this new proposal only promotes toxic behavior.

Does this emoji fall into the "how" category?

This is exclusively a "how" emoji. The action is completely covered by 💡 and 🤡 only describes how the comment was made. There are no instances where the content of a Git change can be described as "mocking".

Examples

🤡 Apparently, "bnkuehmqkg" is a number.

Hey @NatoBoram thanks for opening an issue

You're right, there are a few emojis in gitmoji that are not following the approach described in the issue template. Such as 💩 🍻 and others.

However a mock does not falls under the how category, you can read more why about this in the following link.

We tend to not change or remove emojis that were added many years ago to avoid introducing "breaking-changes" and leave commits without meaning anymore.

Thanks!
