More weights with italics #5

Will there be more weights in the future? (Currently single weight is Bold 700. Nice to have: 9 weights with italics. More nice to have: monospaced version with same weights with italics.) Congratulation for your font. I like it. What is mean "Techna" word and in what language?

Yeah, Thin promises to be cool

Great feedback! Adding more weights seems like the most logical next step, since it will make the typeface much more usable. It's also a great opportunity to refine the current character proportions, such that they scale well for different weights and sizes.

I initially designed the typeface for a small magazine called Techna (for science and technology students). I don't know about the name's origin, but it's probably just a play on word "technology".

I'm glad you like the typeface!

Let's not overthink already 9 weights, baby steps would be more logic. Maybe working on regular weight would be a good step forward. Then I guess you can choose to work on ligatures and language compatibilities for both weights, but only then start working on Italics for both. Having those two weights with corresponding (true would be the best way) italics with ligatures and different languages makes it 100% usable for most design works.

If you need help Typedrawers is welcome with type feedback.
