Experiencer~Gestalt?

I like Experiencer\~Gestalt for the beggar and horror movie examples since those are about seeing, but I'm not sure it generalizes well to books and corgis. Do we want those all to be annotated the same?

jenahwang commented 4 years ago

They don't have to be annotated the same way. What would you say the books and corgis are? If there were sort of the opposite of Instance ... maybe that'd fit.

I suppose the construction is "my ORDINAL_NUM X" meaning "the ORDINAL_NUM time that I experienced X".

There is a longstanding tension between the narrow sense of perceptual-or-emotional-event and the general concept of experiencing a situation (i.e. being in a situation or having something happen to you that you are aware of, which may be more of a complex frame than an event with a specific causal direction).

For "seeing MY first beggar child", should we think of it as really 'my first seeing of a beggar child'? And thus choose a scene role licensed by "seeing"?

"The House of Windsor first came across ITS first Corgi in 1933 when King George VI got a puppy named Dookie for his family. "

I question whether "came across" really makes sense here. Acquired its first Corgi? "Came across" makes it sound so inadvertent....

Anyway here it could legitimately be Possessor.

ACTUALLY this is reminding me of the HX2Y construction (I have a plane to catch), which also uses possessive language for something that is not really possession.
