"Except" is weird. It can have an NP object, by itself or in the multiword preposition except_for.

But it can also have other types of complements. EWT examples:

• Within 24 hours every Communist assault had been defeated except/ADP in the ancient capital of Hue. [in-PP]
• Well, not much I can say except/SCONJ I'm very disappointed with this experience. [clause]

For SNACS purposes, I assume the supersense is just PartPortion.
